DTE’s Portable Potroom Solution At EGA

This August, DTE converted its deployment to a fully operational potroom solution at Emirates Global Aluminum (EGA), the world’s largest “premium aluminum” producer.

DTE’s portable molten metal composition analyzer and data platform for process analytics and insights are now in full operation at EGA’s Jebel Ali site, which has a capacity of 1.000.000 T/year in 1,577 reduction cells. DTE’s solution will enhance EGA’s decision-making ability by giving an instant overview of product quality and trends, providing predictive insights into process efficiency while detecting anomalies and optimizing operational value and control. DTE’s potroom solution is a new benchmark for process control, as it allows its users to optimize tapping schedules, prevent unexpected pot-failures, and eliminate the risk of error by next-to-pot analysis, all while decreasing costs and time spent on maintenance and calibration of traditional analysis instruments. DTE’s solutions offer real-time chemical composition data directly from the melt, reducing the time needed for analysis, allowing for more frequent sampling, and removing bottlenecks associated with composition analysis of solid samples, resulting in faster decision-making.

“We selected DTE’s solutions because we believe its technology will add unique value to EGA’s operations and growth,”  says Abdalla Alzarooni, EGA Vice President, Technology Development & Transfer, “we hope to work in a strong partnership with DTE.”

DTE set to scale with support from EIT Manufacturing

REYKJAVIK, ICELAND – Jul 20, 2022

DTE (www.dte.ai), the leader in real-time intelligence from liquid metals, will be supported by EIT Manufacturing, the largest innovation community in the manufacturing industry in Europe, to continue contributing to circularity and Industry 4.0 in the metals industry.

DTE is a pioneer in innovation for metals intelligence with a breakthrough solution to safely analyze the chemical composition of liquid metals continuously and in real-time. This innovation enables customers to generate predictive intelligence from their data, supporting critical decisions during the metals production process to maximize sustainability, efficiency, safety, and value.

Traditionally, chemical composition analysis is performed at regular intervals by human intervention; DTE’s solution eliminates waiting times for test results and make the overall analysis process safer by removing the associated risks with human sampling.  Continuous checks also increase precision and enable recycled materials to be incorporated as a larger part of the smelt. For the first time, EIT Manufacturing’s support will contribute to serving the customers that DTE has and to expanding IREAS, DTE’s metals intelligence solution, into new metals and materials.

“DTE is a very good example of how technology and innovation, combined with a strong team, contributes to efficiency, value and sustainability,” commented Kaitlin McGovern, Senior Program Manager at EIT Manufacturing, “At EIT Manufacturing we believe in supporting companies like DTE, not only to foster innovation and growth but also to contribute to a greener, safer and more efficient manufacturing industry.”

“We are thrilled to have been selected to receive the advice and financial support from EIT Manufacturing,” commented Diego Areces, CEO of DTE, “This is a testament of our customers’ trust in our team’s drive as well as the European manufacturing community. We look forward to working together with the EIT Manufacturing stakeholders to continue contributing to a circular metals industry and to the development of the advanced materials of the future by generating unique data and intelligence out of the chemical composition of liquid metals.”

EIT Manufacturing is the largest innovation community of the European manufacturing industry, which works specifically with the aim of Europe leading innovation and promoting the development of a sustainable and competitive industry. This community, which is part of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), an organization of the European Union, brings together emerging companies, SMEs, and innovative European corporations in the manufacturing sector to promote joint commercial activities. Through specific programs, EIT Manufacturing supports startups through different services such as access to markets, financial investment and advice. Since 2021, this support has resulted in more than 300 connections between startups and corporates and active support to around 80 start-ups.  EIT Manufacturing’s supported companies have received more than €10.5 million in investments since 2021.

DTE receives European Innovation Council (EIC) award of €2.4 million with up to €7 million equity investment

REYKJAVIK, ICELAND – Jun 20, 2022

DTE (www.dte.ai), a leader in real-time and AI-based predictive metals analytics and intelligence for industry, announced today that it is the recipient of a €2.4 million grant award from the European Innovation Council, with a recommended further equity investment of up to €7 million that can be applied for through the EIC Fund. The fund, created by the European Commission in 2020, aims to provide direct equity investments in breakthrough innovation companies and offer the opportunity for other private investors to co-fund such highly innovative companies. The EIC award builds on a prior EU funding of €1.4 Million as a Horizon 2020 award received by DTE in 2018.

“We are delighted to have been selected to receive this award from the European Innovation Council,” commented Diego Areces, CEO of DTE, “The EIC’s expert assessment process further validates and endorses the huge potential of IREAS, our metals analytics and intelligence solution both to add value and improve the sustainability of the metals industry. Today, producers and manufacturers are stuck with outdated methods for measuring and incorporating analysis of metals which hinders their process control and ultimately, ability to innovate. Our first-in-industry solution generates real time compositional data and intelligent process decision support from liquid metals, contributing to EU competitiveness, accelerating materials innovation, and helping energy intensive industries to decarbonize. This grant will enable us to advance our solution for aluminium smelter potrooms where we have already demonstrated the ability enhance predictive maintenance, with the potential to save billions of dollars per year in avoidable costs.”

IREAS™, DTE’s Intelligent Real-Time Elemental Analysis System is the first on-market solution replacing manual sampling of cooled solid samples with autonomous reference grade composi-tional analytics in real time from high temperature metal.
